Ethical Fashion for Entrepreneurs
A young designer’s perspective & discussion forum
We will explore the following questions and points... What is ethical fashion? What makes it different? What is the current state of the international fashion industry? How to establish ones own ethical fashion company? What are the vital qualities of entrepreneurs? How to maintain and promote an ethical brand? What is the actual impact of ethical fashion companies from around the world on the industry? Does consumer pressure--demanding ethical products--really make a difference?

Marisa started South African ethical clothing label Without in 2003 at age 21, after only a 6 week summer course at London College of Fashion, with no financial capital other than that which she could personally generate from secondary employment. Without aims to create completely comfortable, ethically made garments without compromising design. All garments are made in Cape Town using a minimum of 60% locally produced fabric. Without promotes women’s genuine confidence in their own unique bodies and relies on word of mouth and innovative marketing rather than airbrushed “shut up, stop eating and get a face lift” advertising.            www.without.co.za
